Adiwiyata is a program of schools that embody the friendly and caring school environment
Adiwiyata has an idea or meaning that is good and ideal place in which to obtain all the science and the various norms and ethics that can be the basis for the creation of the welfare of human life and toward the ideals of sustainable development.
PROGRAM PURPOSE Adiwiyata
Creating good conditions for schools to become places of learning and community awareness of school, so in the future citizens of these schools can be also responsible in efforts to preserve the environment and sustainable development.
The main activity is directed at the realization of school institutions concerned and civilized environment for elementary and secondary schools in Indonesia. Besides the development of basic norms which include: togetherness, openness, equality, honesty, justice, and preservation of the environment and natural resources. And the application of basic principles, namely: participatory, where the school community involved in school management which covers the entire process of planning, implementation and evaluation according to the responsibilities and roles; and sustainable, in which all activities must be well planned and ongoing in komperensif.
INDICATORS AND CRITERIA Adiwiyata Program
A. Caring Schools Policy Development and cultured Environment
To create a caring school environment and culture will require some school policies that support the implementation of the activities of environmental education by all citizens of the school in accordance with basic principles of program that is participatory and sustainable Adiwiyata.
Development of school policies include:
1. Vision and mission of the school is a caring and civilized environment.
2. School policies in developing educational learning environment.
3. The policy to increase human resource capacity (staff and
non-educational) in the field of environmental education.
4. School policies in an effort to save natural resources.
5. School policies that support the creation of the school environment clean and healthy.
6. School policy for the allocation and use of funds for activities associated with
environmental problems.
B. Curriculum-Based Development Environment
Submission of environmental material to students can be done through an integrated curriculum or monolithic. Development of materials, teaching models and learning methods vary, conducted to provide insight to students about environmental issues associated with day-to-day environment (local issues).
Curriculum development can be done include:
1. Development of cross-subject learning model.
2. Excavation and materials development and environmental problems that exist in the surrounding community.
3. Development of environment-based learning methods and culture.
4. Development of curricular activities to enhance students' knowledge and awareness about the environment.
C. Development of Activity-Based Participatory
To create a caring school environment and culture, community schools should be involved in various environmental learning activities. In addition, schools are also expected to involve the local community in a variety of activities that provide good benefits for the citizens of schools, communities and the environment.
Tersebutantara activities include:
1. Creating the extra-curricular activities / curriculum in the environmental field-based patisipatif in school.
2. Following the environmental action activities conducted by outsiders.
3. Building a partnership activities or initiate the development of environmental education in schools.
D. Or Development of Facilities Management and School Support
In creating a caring school environment and culture should be supported facilities and infrastructure that reflect the environmental management efforts, among others, include:
1. Development functions of existing school facilities to support environmental education.
2. Improving the quality of knowl-ment of the environment inside and outside the school district.
3. Saving natural resources (electricity, water, and ATK).
4. Improved service quality healthy food.
5. Development of waste management systems.
AWARDS Adiwiyata
Basically Adiwiyata program is not intended as a competition or race. Adiwiyata award given as a token of appreciation to the school that is able to carry out efforts to increase environmental education correctly, in accordance with the criteria established. The award is given to the empowerment stage (during the period of less than 3 years) and self-reliance stage (during a period of more than 3 years).
At this early stage, differentiated Adiwiyata award 2 (two) categories, namely:
1. Adiwiyata school is, schools that have been regarded as successful in implementing Environmental Education.
2. Candidate School Adiwiyata is. Schools that have been regarded as successful in the Development of Environmental Education.
In 2007 questionnaires received by the Ministry of Environment from all over Indonesia as many as 146 schools from 17 provinces. After going through the selection tahaptahap rating, then ditetapkanlah 30 schools as candidates for the 2007 model Adiwiyata school. While the 10 schools that have been selected earlier in the year 2006 (covering the scope of Java Island) established as an award recipient schools Adiwiyata fit into the category of achievement.
PROCEDURES FOR CANDIDATES FOR RECEIVING AWARDS proposal Adiwiyata
Each school may be submitted by local governments as a candidate for School Adiwiyata accordance with quotas established by the Office of the State Ministry of Environment.
Nominations are as mentioned above carried out by filling out the questionnaire and accompanying attachments required in accordance with the form provided by the Office for the Environment.
Candidate schools and school Adiwiyata Adiwiyata will be further examined by the Advisory Council Adiwiyata.
Recipients of the award candidates and schools Adiwiyata determined by the Minister of Environment.
MECHANISM ASSESSMENT PROGRAM Adiwiyata
Basically opportunities Adiwiyata program open to all schools in the country of Indonesia. Given the limitations that exist and the interests of all parties involved, then the selection process and pence judgments, Ministry of Environment assisted by various parties, among others: local government (in this case coordinated by BPLHD / Bapedalda Province), in cooperation with the Department of local education, Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), academics and other private parties.
Adiwiyata Assessment Team was comprised of various stakeholders namely: Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education, NGOs working in the field of environment, the Environmental Education Network, Higher Education, Private etc. While Adiwiyata Certification Board consists of the Environmental Specialist, Environmental Education Specialist, representatives from other universities and others.
